The best way that I can explain this is that all of the major search engine companies such as Google, Yahoo and now Microsoft are some of the most technologically advanced companies on the web, paving the way for new development tools and even creating new development languages. For example, Microsoft has the most popular database in the business world – SQL. They’ve got one of the most popular application development languages in the world, .NET, and they've got MSN search. Knowing these things, what would your conclusion be about database driven web sites and search engine results?
Google is another case and point. Google and Yahoo use PHP for their web pages. Yahoo's code is in ColdFusion 8. Some Google programmers write what ends up in PHP libraries in their spare time, for free. In mid 2008, Google announced that they can index Flash content. They also outline a way for web developers to create an xml file that lists all the pages on a site so that they can be indexed, regardless of development language, images, development platform, etc. If you have read this, the next time that someone from a search engine company tells you that you can't get a PHP site indexed by Google, ask them why Google and Yahoo's own websites are in PHP.
